The wedding photography story Dehradun has Shalini and Akshat playing the lead roles. This wedding of Shalini and Akshat in Dehradun is an unforgettable affair. Their beautiful love story blossomed in to a precious bond called marriage. One fine day, Akshat pinged me on Facebook to give the big news of his wedding. In the second place, he inquired about my availability to do his wedding photography. I was excited and happy for him at the same time. In addition, he gave me the complete itinerary of his wedding. I immediately agreed after knowing that his wedding is going to commence in Dehradun. The reason of my instant acceptance was first, I have never been to Dehradun and second, he was from the same institute as mine i.e. IIM-Indore.
I love capturing photos of weddings and making a wedding story for my clients. It just makes me happy to provide the couples and their families with the most precious gift for their lifetime. I must admit though; it is not an easy job as it seems to be.
Anyway, after all the discussion and travel plans, I visited Dehradun early this year in the month of February for the first time. Akshat showed his wonderful hospitality by visiting me in person and also showed me my way to the hotel room where he had made a reservation for me.
Later I went to his house (that had a pandal setup and was decorated with lights). I met his family members there who were equally nice to me. Oh! I forgot to mention that I could immediately smell the delicious food that was being cooked in his house. :)
The sangeeth night was on the night when I reached Dehradun. As usual, I had to be in the venue before anyone did and had a word with Akshat to know the exact timing of the things that was going to happen during the sangeeth (As a wedding photographer you need to plan on the spot and need to prepared).
So, the sangeeth night started with Akshat’s tilak function. And then later their relatives and friends started showing off their mind-blowing dance steps. Here are some photos from the tilak function and sangeeth.
While the sangeeth was half way through, there was Shalini who had made her beautiful entry. Everyone had their eyeballs on her as she entered wearing her blue and yellow lehenga. That was time I had met Shalini for the first time in-person.
The next day was the mehendi ceremony of Shalini and she seemed to be very worried about the poses and photos. Btw, Did I mention that Shalini is a scientist? :D As a scientist how much can you expect her to pose for you?
However, this is the time as a wedding photographer one should help the bride to relax. I befriended with her and tried to get along by cutting out some chats. To my surprise she told me she never wore traditional clothes in her life (not even suits). Those words coming from an Indian bride was a bummer! But she was telling the truth.
Anyway, she was very friendly and I was able to capture some nice photos. Here check them out:
The last day of my shoot was a hectic day for me as I had to quickly travel back and forth to two venues where Akshat and Shalini had their haldi ceremonies during the day. Plus, I had to get some prep shots of Shalini done before the baarat and wedding started.
The haldi funtion in the morning was fun at both the bride and groom’s place. Check out some of the haldi function photos:
The next thing on the line was me to take some prep shots of Shalini before the Baarat. So, I traveled to her beauty saloon where she was getting ready. I managed to take some beautiful shot of the bride there and also succeeded to bug the makeup artist too. Haha!I managed to be on time for everything that day (thanks to Akshat for providing me with a dedicated driver to drive me around from venue to venue).
Shalini was wearing a beautiful red lehenga and looked drop dead gorgeous, which are captured as evidence in the photographs below:
After the prep shots was over I quickly went to the Baarat where everyone was just dancing their hearts out. Check out the pics from the reception below:
The Muhurtham was late at night. Meanwhile, everyone was eager to be a part of the wedding of this couple.
After the wedding was complete, the most heart-breaking time comes for the bride where she has to part from her family to make her new home with her husband.
However, Akshath’s family welcomed Shalini whole-heartedly as their own daughter. Here are some fun and loving moment after she entered her new home.
I had a fantastic time capturing the wedding and by the time the whole wedding ended I came back home with some nice memories myself and made some new friends.
